Zuma Durban restaurant entangled in trademark battle

Zuma, a global restaurant and lifestyle brand specializing in Japanese cuisine, has said that it has no affiliation with the new restaurant in Durban with the same name.

The brand was formed by Rainer Becker and Arjun Waney in 2002, and has no connection to the recently opened ‘Mediterranean’ restaurant named Zuma in Durban.

Recently, the restaurant in Durban opened its doors with notable visitors in attendance, including former president Jacob Zuma.

There is currently a dispute between the original owners of the Zuma trademark and the Durban restaurant, and legal action is planned to address the issue of trademark infringement.

The original Zuma brand The brand’s headquarters is the first restaurant to open, located in London. Zuma has launched successfully in 21 locations around the globe.
