Eau no!

Emelia O’Toole, commonly known as “Professor Perfume” on TikTok, is going viral for pointing out that perfume aficionados store their bottles incorrectly.

She begins the minute-long video, which has had more than 2.3 million views since it was released this week, by snubbing images on Pinterest depicting scents on bathroom counters.

“If you leave your perfume in the bathroom, the shower’s steam and continual temperature swings will deteriorate it far more quickly than if you store it properly,” O’Toole explained.

The eau-it-all also discouraged placing perfume bottles in high-traffic areas, such as dressers and window ledges.

O’Toole scoffed at images on Pinterest depicting perfume bottles on bathroom counters.

“Store your perfume in a cold, dry, and dark location. I always suggest a closet or dresser drawer. Some people store them in the refrigerator. She said, “You don’t have to go that far, but if you keep them properly, they will last for years and years.”

“Say it with me: Hide them away to keep them,” O’Toole wrote over the video in writing.

In the comments, TikTok users listed their two favorite perfumes.

One commenter huffed, “Then they shouldn’t make the bottles so attractive.”

“I learnt this the hard way after placing them on my window sill,” acknowledged a second individual.

“…the humiliating stroll I just took to my restroom. “They’re going into the hallway closet,” remarked another.

“How about…a dark drawer in the bathroom?” offered one hopeful.

“If it’s in the bathroom, the temperature might fluctuate! “It should be in a whole other room,” O’Toole said.

“I realize you’re right, but I cherish my sloth when getting dressed more than the longevity of my scent,” scoffed another.
