WP ready for South Africa women’s cricket summer

– Cape Town South Africa will host the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s World Cup and ICC T20 Women’s World Cup early in the next year, ensuring a golden summer for women’s cricket in the country.

Western Province coach Claire Terblanche believes that Cricket South Africa’s Provincial competitions, which begin this weekend in Potchefstroom, Tshwane, and KwaZulu-Natal, are the ideal opportunity for the country’s female cricketers to showcase their talents in an effort to earn a spot in Dinesha Devnarain’s (U19) and Hilton Moreeng’s (Proteas Women) respective squads.

“The females will concentrate on our strengths. We will do what is necessary, and the outcome will take care of itself. When this occurs, it cannot be overlooked by the selectors. This is how to maximize your chances of success “Terblanche stated on Wednesday’s WP 2021-22 Awards evening.

Western Province are a domestic cricket powerhouse as the defending T20 winners and runners-up in the 50-overs competition to North West.

WP Player of the Year and Proteas new cap Delmi Tucker and, of course, Proteas stars Laura Wolvaardt, Nadine de Klerk, Lara Goodall, Andries Steyn, and Sinalo Japtha are among their most fascinating players.

Kayla Reyneke, the SA U19 and WP Young Player of the Year, is a young phenom who is turning heads on the Women’s circuit.

With so much potential at her disposal, Terblanche has placed the WP squad’s sights firmly on accomplishing the double this upcoming weekend.

“A great deal of labor has led up to this weekend. The season is beginning roughly a month early, but we are prepared. We face Northerns first, and we’re feeling optimistic about this weekend “Terblanche reported.

“We feel pressure to bring both cups home. We would love to win the 50-overs and 20-overs championships. We have been runner-up to North West for almost two years. I believe the girls are prepared to bring home both trophies this season.”
