The Commission for Gender Equality’s shortlist of applicants for open positions is out for public discussion, and the Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities is asking for input (CGE).
Nonhlanhla Ncube-Ndaba, the chair of the committee, said that the committee had finished shortlisting 24 individuals to fill the positions last week.
According to Ncube-Ndaba, “the committee took into account the geographic and ethnic diversity of the applicants, as well as their gender and level of handicap, in accordance with the standards outlined in the Constitution and the Commission for Gender Equality Act No. 39 of 1996.”
The public comments period for the finalists will close on September 16, 2022.
In compliance with section 59(1)(a) of the Constitution, which permits public involvement in committee proceedings, the names of the selected candidates have been put on the legislative website.
