William and Kate attends a multi-faith service at the Grenfell tower to mark the fifth anniversary of the Grenfell Tower catastrophe

On the fifth anniversary of the Grenfell Tower catastrophe, Prince William and his wife Kate met survivors and families who lost loved ones.

Kensington Palace confirmed a private meeting between the royal couple and individuals directly affected by the accident.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will also attend a multi-faith service at the tower’s base, which has been organized by the campaign group Grenfell United.

The cording has been removed to allow survivors, bereaved, and community members to gather at the tower for a seated service that will include prayers, readings, and choir performances.

The service is being live-streamed on screens around the neighborhood so that the entire community and public can watch it.

The duke and duchess will participate in the wreath and flower laying at the end of the service.

In the days following the disaster in June 2017, William accompanied the Queen to see those affected by the fire, including local residents and emergency services.

The duke and duchess met survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire in November 2019 during a visit to celebrate the inauguration of the National Emergencies Trust, of which the duke is patron.
