Whistleblower Alleges CIA Bribery in COVID Origins Assessment

A recent revelation by a CIA whistleblower has raised alarming allegations that the agency resorted to bribing its own analysts to alter their stance on the origins of Covid-19, stating that it did not originate in a Wuhan lab.

This bombshell disclosure, brought forward by two Republican representatives, unveils a potential cover-up regarding the virus’s origins.

Internal Discrepancies within the CIA

According to information provided by a senior-level current agency officer, the CIA assembled a Covid discovery team comprising seven officers.

After conducting their investigation, six out of the seven members of this team initially believed that the intelligence pointed to a low-confidence assessment indicating that Covid-19 may have originated in a lab.

The seventh member, the team’s most senior figure, maintained that the virus evolved naturally.

Allegations of Monetary Incentives

The whistleblower has alleged that a startling turn of events occurred within the agency. Reportedly, the six analysts who initially leaned toward a lab-origin theory were offered a “significant monetary incentive” to change their position. This revelation casts a shadow on the integrity of the CIA’s investigative process.

Congressional Inquiry and Demands for Documents

Reps. Mike Turner and Brad Wenstrup, both Republicans from Ohio, who lead the Intelligence and Covid committees, have taken swift action in response to this disturbing revelation.

They penned a letter to CIA Director William Burns, demanding the immediate release of all documents related to this matter.

The lawmakers have set a deadline of September 26 for the CIA to provide records concerning the COVID discovery team and all communications with various government agencies, including the FBI, State Department, Health and Human Services, and Energy Department.

Divergent Views and Lack of Consensus

The issue of Covid-19’s origin remains highly contentious, with various government agencies offering conflicting assessments.

The Department of Energy, responsible for overseeing biological research labs in the U.S., expressed “low confidence” in February of this year that the virus likely came from a lab in Wuhan.

The FBI arrived at a similar conclusion with “moderate confidence.” In contrast, five other intelligence bodies leaned towards the theory of natural transmission, where the virus transferred from an animal to a human host. The CIA, however, declined to make an assessment, citing significant assumptions and conflicting reports.

Challenges in Determining the Virus’s Origins

The frustration with the Chinese government’s lack of transparency in assisting with investigations into the virus’s origins has compounded the challenges of arriving at a definitive conclusion.

Chinese authorities are accused of destroying virus samples and utilizing others for research, hindering efforts to ascertain the virus’s source.

Inconclusive Intelligence Report

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a declassified report in June, which presented inconclusive findings regarding the virus’s origins.

It stated that “both a natural and laboratory-associated origin remain plausible hypotheses to explain the first human infection.”

As of this month, the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in the tragic loss of approximately seven million lives since it first emerged in 2020. The quest to pinpoint its origin continues to be a subject of international concern and scrutiny.
