‘We’re like pillars of strength supporting each other,’ Fergie tells of her relationship with Prince Andrew

The Duchess of York has promised to support Prince Andrew, calling him “extremely nice and caring” and noting that “he truly knows the art of communicating with me.”

Following Andrew’s settlement with Virginia Giuffre over sexual assault charges earlier this year, Sarah Ferguson, 62, made the remarks during an interview with Iain Dale on LBC.

She expressed gratitude to their children, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, for ‘having got him’ when discussing her first historical novel, Her Heart For A Compass.

‘He’s a really kind and kind man,’ Ferguson stated when asked about keeping a strong connection with Andrew following their divorce. He truly comprehends the art of communication and trust with me.

‘We do communicate, but it’s tempered with compassion.’ I will support him. It’s a great bond, and it’s not just because they’re co-parenting; it’s because they’re just friends.

‘It’s a good thing the girls have [him]. They have the river rushing by, which is me, and he’s very naval and “this is how it’s done” and very regal life.’

Referring to whether there was a fairytale ending with her former husband, she said: ‘I think the happy ending is the way we are today and the way we lead by example with the ability to have a sense of understanding of each other.

‘I don’t think I would ever wish to go into anything where I can’t just jump around and a sense of freedom. I think that is key to it. I love to be free.

‘I like to go to Poland tomorrow if I wish to or if I want to go to Rwanda. I just love the way I am.’

‘We are no longer married. Mariella, I think it’s critical that people understand that I don’t stay in England for lengthy periods of time because I don’t want to. I’d much rather be outside.

‘In Africa and Poland, I’ve constructed 156 schools.’ And, you know, all I want to do now is continuing doing my philanthropic job.’

Despite their 1996 divorce, Sarah and Andrew have remained so close that they currently live together at Royal Lodge, the Queen Mother’s old residence on the Windsor estate, and visit the Queen at Windsor Castle on a regular basis.

She previously referred to them as “the happiest divorced couple in the world,” describing them as “the happiest divorced couple in the world,” as they shared a room at Royal Lodge, Windsor.

‘We’re like pillars of strength supporting each other,’ she continued.

They spent almost £13 million in 2014 on a chalet in the posh Swiss ski town of Verbier, which was registered in both of their names.

The Duke of York’s disputed £18 million hideaway in the Swiss resort of Verbier, which is in the process of being sold, has been placed under a freezing order, according to reports, to assist him pay up sex assault victim Virginia.

According to insiders, the legal effort would ensure that a Swiss couple with whom the duke negotiated a business deal will receive the rumoured £1.6 million due to them by the Queen’s second son.
