Waiguru laments out at EACC CEO’s incompetence

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has upped her attack on Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) CEO Twalib Mbarak, stating that he is incompetent.

This comes after Mbarak declared on Thursday that Kenyans are aware of Waiguru’s social standing on integrity problems, following the Kirinyaga Governor’s accusation that the commission was being used to impede people who supported Deputy President William Ruto’s camp.

The CEO’s remark, according to Governor Waiguru, was disrespectful and confirmed his bias.

” Your response to my complaint came as a shock for its irresponsible content. You hold a const Cap 15 office that demands the highest level of impartiality and professionalism.Your reckless response on such a matter proves your unworthiness to hold such a serious office,” she stated.

Waiguru demanded that the CEO present evidence to back up his claims, accusing the commission of using politically motivated information to smear her reputation.

“You’re supposed to be an impartial investigator not a peddler of “everyone knows” village shopping center narratives,” a furious Waiguru stated.

Waiguru’s attack on EACC began after she was named as one of 240 candidates the Commission wants disqualified from the August 9, 2022 elections due to concerns of integrity.

The list contains those who have been convicted, as well as those who have been investigated, found guilty, and had their files given to the Director of Public Prosecution.

Waiguru, who is running for re-election, has been accused of misusing his position by accepting irregular payments of travel imprests totaling Sh10, 634, 614 for non-existent or non-official visits.
