Tuesday, the Virginia Lottery said that Jose Flores Velasquez purchased a 20X the Money scratch-off ticket from a grocery store in Annadale after work.

Velasquez was notified at the lottery company’s customer service line that his ticket was worth more than he anticipated.

“He had the option of receiving the whole $1 million reward over 30 years or a lump sum of $759,878 before taxes,” according to lottery officials. “He opted for the cash option. The Virginia Lottery awards the retailer a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.”

According to officials, Velasquez may use the award money to start a business. The likelihood of getting first place is 1 in 1,754,400.
