USIU-Mastercard Africa’s Foundation Scholars Program


The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at United States International University – Africa is now accepting applications from academically gifted African adolescents. The deadline for application submission is September 16, 2022.

United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa) has entered into a relationship with the Mastercard Foundation’s global Scholars Programme. This effort will provide access to a world-class university education for academically brilliant African youth who face financial, gender, displacement, or disability-related obstacles.

Young Africans pursuing their first undergraduate degree will receive full tuition scholarships through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at USIU-Africa. At the conclusion of their studies, scholars will be expected to lead improvements in their communities and contribute to a dramatic transformation of the continent, armed with internationally recognized and locally applicable credentials.

Be under the age of 29 at the time of application.

Meet the minimum grade requirement stipulated by the Kenya Commission for University Education, which is C+ or its equivalent. Applicants who wish to enroll in courses in the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences must have a cumulative grade point average of B- or its equivalent and a C+ or B- in English, Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry. Applicants from abroad must meet the comparable requirements.

Must be interested in one of the thirteen authorized bachelor’s degree programs at USIU-Scholars Africa’s Program.

Science and Technology Faculty (SST) School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (SPHS) – Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics; School of Communication, Cinematic and Creative Arts (SCCCA) School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS): Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology)
Have a demonstrated history of leadership involvement and community service.
Demonstrate socio-economic disadvantage.

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars at USIU-Africa will get comprehensive assistance, including:

Tuition and functional fees; Laptops, books, and other learning materials; Reasonable housing and meals; Medical insurance; Stipend; Home-to-school transportation.

Leadership training access;
Access to training in entrepreneurship;
Psychosocial assistance, career guidance, and mentoring;
Disabled individuals’ needs will be accommodated to a reasonable degree.

Submit a complete application with all required supporting documents by email, ensuring that the scholarship application form and all other documents are scanned in PDF format. Send an email with your name and nationality as the subject line to mcfsp-applications@usiu.ac.ke or drop off your application at the Scholars Program Office in the School of Graduate Studies, Research and Extension building at USIUAfrica.
