US to face serious consequences for supporting Taiwan ‘separatists’

According to TASS, the US will face serious consequences if it continues to help Taiwan’s “separatist forces.” Zhao Lijian, an official spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, stated that the US will face serious consequences if it continues to back Taiwan’s “separatist forces.”

The Chinese official slammed US Senator Tammy Duckworth’s recent trip to Taiwan, where she met with Tsai Ing-wen, the island’s president. As part of his Indo-Pacific tour, Duckworth will be in Taiwan from May 30 to June 1.

“Recently, the United States has taken a variety of moves in relation to the Taiwan issue. They’d say one thing and then do something quite different. They would encourage and support pro-independence forces on the island, both surreptitiously and openly. This might put Taiwan in a precarious situation, while the US could face major consequences,” Zhao Lijian said.

Tensions in the Taiwan Strait have been rising as a result of Washington’s use of Taiwan to control China, according to Zhao Lijian.

He also accused the island’s administration of seeking help from the United States to gain independence.

Earlier, Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Chinese State Council Office for Taiwan Affairs, said that Beijing was ready to make every effort to reunite with Taiwan peacefully. At the same time, the Chinese administration did not rule out the use of force in the event of external interference or “separatists’ actions” that advocate the independence of the island. She also accused Washington of the wish to exaggerate China’s danger.
