Unveiling of the UK Net Zero Innovation Handbook

Unveiling of the UK Net Zero Innovation Handbook

The UK Government’s Net Zero Innovation Handbook was published today and was unveiled in Sydney by the UK’s Secretary for International Trade. The UK’s Digital Trade Network created this manual as a part of its 2022 Net Zero Innovation Mission.
The Glasgow Climate Pact is expanded upon by the Net Zero Mission, which links Australian and New Zealand organizations with a clear decarbonization need with UK climate tech businesses who offer creative solutions.
The team spoke with more than 600 organizations in Australia and New Zealand to better understand how UK technology may assist in addressing net zero difficulties that companies face. They discussed the most challenging aspects of their net zero journey while outlining their ambitions for decarbonization.
Digital carbon accounting, emissions capture, and Scope 3 supply chain emissions reporting are major issues in the area. The Handbook highlights UK responses to these problems, and the Mission’s next phase will link businesses in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand to encourage cooperation on these objectives.
Leading a worldwide surge in investments in green innovation is the UK. Investment in IT startups has increased by 210% year over year, and the UK has seen more climate technology businesses get venture capital financing than any other European nation.
Anne-Marie Trevelyan, UK Secretary of State for International Trade, stated:

The first developed country to make it a legal requirement to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 was the UK. Businesses have a ton of opportunity to take the initiative and foster expansion. In fact, although our emissions reduced by 44% between 1990 and 2019, the UK economy expanded by 78% over that time. The G7’s quickest pace demonstrates that green development is feasible.

A wonderful example of how green commerce can be a force for good, this Net Zero Handbook will link UK experience with net zero difficulties faced by Australian and New Zealand firms.

Louise Cantillon, deputy trade commissioner for Australia and New Zealand in the Asia Pacific region, stated:

This guidebook is a really useful resource that highlights important areas for partnerships and cooperation between the UK, Australia, and New Zealand so that we may jointly green our sectors and meet our net zero goals.

The UK has pioneering approaches to the clean growth economy and a steadfast dedication to the green revolution. We will expand on this project over the next six months by arranging business meetings with UK, Australian, and New Zealand companies.

I urge businesses in Australia and New Zealand looking for sustainable solutions to get in touch with the UK in Australia team so we can put you in touch with UK knowledge.

The project comes after the UK had the COP26 presidency of the UN Climate Change Summit, which took place in Glasgow in November 2021. Through the UK’s “Race to Zero” Campaign, where a number of organizations announced fresh promises to target “net zero” emissions and accelerate their decarbonization, COP26 brought together government and business.
A pipeline for green innovation is being established by the UK’s Green Industrial Revolution, which is attracting £12 billion in government funding and maybe three times that amount from the private sector.
