UNILAG ranks 1st in Nigeria and 401–500 globally out of 1,799 universities

The rankings were carefully determined using thirteen (13) carefully calibrated performance metrics that show an institution’s achievement in four (4) key areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international perspective.

Rankings at the University of Lagos have unquestionably increased from preceding years, rising steadily from 2020 to the present. UNILAG’s range increased from 801 to 1000 in 2020 to 601 to 800 in 2021, 501 to 600 in 2022, and now 401 to 500 in 2023.

On the other hand, the University is persistent in its pursuit of inclusion among the top 10 institutions in the world.

This year, the University and the University of Ibadan are tied for top in Nigeria. Covenant University is in third place, between 601 and 800 points behind the University.

Aston University in the UK, the University of Bayreuth in Germany, Brunel University in London, the United Kingdom, and Colorado State University in Fort Collins, the United States are a few institutions outside of Nigeria that UNILAG shares the 401-500 range with.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe appreciates administration, staff, students, alumni, friends, and other university stakeholders for their different efforts to making this accomplishment possible.
