Uncle Waffles announces BBC Radio 1 residence

After exploding into the amapiano music scene and becoming viral last year, DJ Uncle Waffles, who was born in Swaziland, is gearing up to do it again.

At one of the major radio stations in the UK, BBC Radio 1, the 22-year-old made an announcement about her new residence.

“So delighted to announce that I will be joining BBC Radio 1’s residency as a presenter where I will be throwing the spotlight on the genre that transformed my life; amapiano and some of its hottest songs to date,” the “Tanzia” hitmaker tweeted on August 31. Every Thursday at midnight SA time and 11 p.m. UK time.

Two DJs will perform a set for an hour every Thursday for a month as part of the residency.

Amapiano is quickly sweeping the globe, and it’s even more satisfying when South Africans are working on the worldwide level.

The three-month residence schedule, which begins this week, has been announced by BBCR1. Ahadadream will join Uncle Waffles.

Eliza Rose and Helena Hauff will take over in October, followed by Joseph Capriati and Skream in November. Beginning at 11 p.m., the new lineup features Uncle Waffles and Ahadadream.
