LVIV/KYIV – Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy issued a warning that Russia was “preparing new strikes” on his nation, advising defense troops and residents to be prepared to endure a new week of strain on the electrical infrastructure due to frigid weather.

In recent weeks, Moscow has struck essential infrastructure, causing power disruptions and murdering civilians. Millions were left without light, water, or heat as temperatures dipped below 32 degrees Fahrenheit on Wednesday, as a result of strikes that inflicted the conflict’s heaviest damage to yet.

“We believe the terrorists are plotting further attacks. “This is a truth,” Zelenskiy stated in his Sunday night video message. As long as they possess missiles, they will be unable to settle down.

He said that the upcoming week might be just as challenging as the last one.

Moscow has no response to Zelenskiy’s assertions.

On Sunday, snow fell in Kyiv and temperatures hovered around freezing as millions in and around the Ukrainian capital grappled with disruptions to their energy supply and central heating as a result of Russian air attacks.

Workers were close to restoring electricity, water, and heat, according to city officials, but high consumption levels necessitated temporary blackouts.

Last week, the Kremlin denied that its strikes on Ukraine’s energy network were directed at civilians, but stated that Kyiv could “stop the misery” of its population by complying with Russia’s conditions for resolving the war.

In September, Russia annexed large portions of Ukraine’s east and south, and President Vladimir Putin has stated that Moscow’s territorial claims are non-negotiable. After the annexation, Zelenskiy stated that he would not negotiate with Moscow and that the territorial integrity of Ukraine is inviolable.

There were no deadly strikes on Kiev or other large cities on Sunday. According to Ukraine’s central army command, Russian soldiers in the Dnipropetrovsk area conducted four missile assaults and shot many times on civilian targets.

Zelenskiy stated that the situation along the front lines in several regions of Ukraine remained volatile, notably in the eastern Donetsk area.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Troops said in its daily update on Monday that Ukrainian forces had resisted Russian attacks in many places in the Donetsk region, including Bakhmut and Avdiivka, over the previous day.

Oleh Zhdanov, a Ukrainian military expert, reported that significant battle was also taking place in the northeastern Kharkiv region, close to the territory retaken by the Ukrainian army in September and October.
