The UK is expected to experience a mixture of sunshine and thundery showers over the coming week, as reported by the Met Office.

Flood alerts are currently in place for England and Scotland, but the forecaster noted that it should feel warm in any sunshine across the country, despite continued predictions of rain.

On Tuesday afternoon and evening, Liverpool is expected to see sunshine, which is good news for the Eurovision kick-off, which includes a series of outdoor events.

However, the city should expect some cloud and rain on Wednesday, sun and rain on Thursday, and a dry Friday.

The final day of the competition, Saturday, is forecast to remain dry and cloudy, with temperatures reaching a high of 16C.

According to the Met Office forecast, the UK will see rain on Tuesday with some heavy, thundery showers, particularly in the south and east.

In London, Tuesday will start off bright and dry, but heavy showers are expected to develop in the afternoon, bringing the risk of hail and thunder, before a drier evening.

Temperatures in the capital could reach 20C.

Showers are said to continue across the UK into Wednesday and Thursday, with spells of sunshine before a dry Friday.

Met Office meteorologist Greg Dewhurst said in a video on Monday that it wouldn’t be a bank holiday without some wet weather across the country, and they’ve certainly got that through the course of the day ahead.

He added that there would be some sunshine and showers as low pressure dominates the weather pattern; however, towards the end of the week into the weekend, an area of high pressure may start to build in to give a drier few days.

Dewhurst also mentioned that the weather “brightens up for everyone” on Tuesday afternoon.

There will be a continuation of these sunny spells and heavy thundery showers throughout the week, but the good news is that it does start to turn drier by Friday, and it looks like it could hold on for Saturday and perhaps Sunday too, particularly in the south.

It will feel quite warm in the sunshine throughout the week as well.

He added that heavy showers are expected on Tuesday evening and into Wednesday, but there will be a good deal of sunshine across western parts of England and in northern Wales, which will help lift temperatures overall to the mid to high teens, making it feel quite warm, and the sunshine is strong.

The UK should expect a mix of thundery showers and spells of sunshine throughout the week, with the chance of flooding in certain areas.

It is essential to be aware of the weather conditions if going out and to take necessary precautions.
