Two men were sentenced today for conspiring to provide material support to the designated foreign terrorist organization Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham/Syria (ISIS)

For conspiring to give material support to the designated foreign terrorist organization Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, two men received sentences today (ISIS).

Kristopher Sean Matthews, 36, of South Carolina, also known as Ali Jibreel, received a 20-year prison term, while Jaylyn Christopher Molina, 24, of Cost, Texas, also known as Abdur Rahim, received an 18-year sentence.

According to court documents, Matthews and Molina have been working together since May 2019 to provide services to ISIS by running an encrypted, members-only chat group for people who support its ideology, gathering, producing, and disseminating pro-ISIS propaganda, and passing along training materials for making bombs and firearms to one another, other chat group members, and others.

Matthews and Molina, respectively, entered guilty pleas to one count of conspiring to give material support to ISIS on November 24, 2020, and January 25, 2021.

Molina also admitted guilt to one count of receiving child porn.

Molina was given a second sentence of 216 months at his sentencing hearing today for the child pornography charge.

Since being detained on September 21, 2020, both men have remained in federal custody.

This case was looked into by the Gonzalez County Sheriff’s Office, the San Antonio Police Department, and the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) of the FBI in San Antonio.
