Trump addresses bombshell Steele Dossier Columbia Journalism Review

Following an 18-month examination by the Columbia Journalism Review, Donald Trump criticized the media for its shortcomings with the infamous Steele Dossier and claimed it also contributed to his defeat in the 2020 presidential election.

Inadequacies in the media’s reporting of Christopher Steel’s dossier connecting Trump’s 2016 campaign to Russia are described in the report, which was released on Monday.

Trump said that the research exposed the shortcomings of the mainstream media and that it “had a significant influence on the 2020 presidential election, just one of the many ways that the elections was rigged and stolen” on Truth Social on Wednesday.

“This confirms, once again, that the crooked, awakened, radical Democrats stole the 2020 Election, making it impossible for that reality to be termed “The Big Lie,” as the Marxists and Communists in our nation want to paint it,” the former president said.

The Steele Dossier was a compilation of allegations obtained by the former MI6 from sources in eastern Europe. These allegations covered a wide range of topics, from specifics regarding alleged coordination between the 2016 Trump campaign and Moscow to obscene allegations regarding Trump and Russian prostitutes.

By the end of 2016, the material, which was supported by the Clinton campaign, was well known in Washington before Buzzfeed News released it in its entirety in January 2017.

Following a probe of the dossier, it was discovered that Steele’s “main” source had said that the former agent had overstated or misstated facts and that his own material was based on “rumor and supposition.”

In addition, several crucial elements have been proven false after it was published, with the Columbia Journalism Review characterizing the incident as a failure of the contemporary media.

‘It is a STAGGERING, detailed account of the lies, disinformation, and complete lack of journalistic integrity exhibited by the purveyors of Fake News at the Washington Compost (also known as the Washington Post), the Failing New York Times, and many others,’ Trump wrote about the review on Truth Social.

The U.S. intelligence community did disclose its general conclusion that Moscow interfered in the 2016 election to support Trump, despite the disproved charges in the dossier.

Trump boasts that the Columbia Journalism Review supports his assertions that the 2020 election will be rigged, while the article focuses on the 2016 election, which he won against Hilary Clinton.

The majority of references to the 2020 election concerned Trump’s interviews in which he repeated the untruths in response to the reporters’ questions.

Bob Woodward, a well-known Watergate reporter, also criticized media coverage and disclosed in a recent interview how Washington Post writers disregarded his warnings because they were caught up in the thrill of the Russiagate investigations.

In the end, Woodward said, readers felt “cheated” by the coverage of Trump’s connections to Russia.

He made them during a protracted examination of how the media covered the most significant event of the Trump administration.

As reported by Jeff Gerth for the Columbia Journalism Review, “Bob Woodward, of the Post, told me that press coverage of the Russia investigation “wasn’t handled effectively” and that he believed viewers and readers had been “cheated.”

“Walk down the arduous path of reflection,” he advised newsrooms.
