Community Grieves the Loss of Michael ‘Bruno’ Smith
Tributes have flooded in for a beloved security guard known for his ‘huge heart,’ who tragically passed away after sustaining an injury while working at the Creamfields festival.
Michael, also affectionately known as Bruno, suffered a severe head injury on August 28 while clearing the festival site in Daresbury, Cheshire.
Despite being airlifted to the hospital and receiving round-the-clock care, he succumbed to his injuries more than two weeks later, as confirmed by his family on Friday.

Tragically, Michael passed away on September 15, a somber 18 days after the initial injury.
In response to this devastating loss, a GoFundMe campaign was initiated by his brother on September 9, with the aim of raising £5,000. As of now, the campaign has already amassed £1,730, demonstrating the outpouring of support from the community.
