Travis Scott resolves Astroworld lawsuit

Travis Scott reached a confidential settlement with the family of an Astroworld victim.

In November 2021, the 31-year-old rapper was headlining a concert at the Astroworld Festival in his hometown of Houston, Texas when a major crowd crush near the stage claimed the lives of ten individuals.

According to reports, he and Live Nation have negotiated a settlement involving the loss of the “loving son” of the Acosta family, who died at the age of 21.

Without disclosing the settlement terms, attorney Tony Buzbee posted on Instagram: “The Buzbee Law Firm announced today that the family of Axel Acosta has settled its claims against Travis Scott, Live Nation, and others involved in the Astroworld tragedy.

“The words are proprietary. Axel Acosta, the victim, was a cherished son, brother, and student. He was loving and compassionate. He will be sorely missed. Please continue to keep his family in your prayers.”

The lawsuit claimed that fans of Scott – who has two children with “The Kardashians” star Kylie Jenner – only attended the concert “for fun” and that no families were ever warned that their loved ones had entered a “dangerous situation,” adding that the musician has a “history” of inciting violence through his lyrics and encouraging fans to breach security by rushing to the front of the stage.

While it has been stated that he did not participate in the negotiations surrounding the settlement with the Acosta family, the “Goosebumps” singer reportedly claimed that he had “lost his family” due to the murders.

He said: “In the end, these people are like family, so you feel as though you have just lost something. Sincerely, you perform these shows so that the audience has the finest possible time.

“And to believe that something like this occurred, you simply attempt to comprehend… to tie everything up.””
