After a tram with 30 passengers on board was derailed by a cement truck, two persons were taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

At about 10.45 am on Friday, emergency services were summoned to the junction of Elizabeth and A’Beckett streets in Melbourne’s central business district.

It is believed that the tram derailed as a result of the cement truck colliding with its side.

The truck driver, a man in his 40s, and one tram passenger, a man in his 80s, were taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries

The tram rider in his 80s and the truck driver, both in their 40s, were transferred to the Royal Melbourne Hospital to receive non-life-threatening medical treatment.

Injuries that are not life threatening are being treated at the Royal Melbourne Hospital for the truck driver, a guy in his 40s, and one tram passenger, a man in his 80s.

Both continue to be in good health.

On Friday afternoon, investigators from the police and fire departments were still on the site.

Until the collision is resolved, the 19 and 59 tram services between Brunswick Road and Queen Victoria Market will not stop.
