Protesters from the group “Just Stop Oil” have once again targeted the evening rush hour in central London, causing frustration among commuters.
The demonstrators began their slow march along Kingsway at around 4:30 pm.
Police officers from the Metropolitan Police quickly responded to the protest, imposing Section 12 conditions to maintain order and clear the road by 4:40 pm.
Surprisingly, no arrests have been made thus far.
This demonstration is part of a larger campaign by Just Stop Oil aimed at disrupting traffic in various parts of the capital.
They have previously disrupted major events such as the Chelsea Flower Show, causing significant inconvenience to attendees and the general public.
Despite government officials urging the police to take a tougher stance against the protesters, officers have been hesitant to intervene during the past six weeks of demonstrations.
Last week, the police advised the public to exercise patience and wait for officers to handle the situation.
The ongoing protests by Just Stop Oil continue to create disruptions during peak traffic hours in central London.
The group’s deliberate slow march through major thoroughfares, such as Kingsway, aims to draw attention to their cause and raise awareness about environmental issues related to the oil industry.
The police response, characterized by the imposition of Section 12 conditions and the absence of arrests, reflects the challenges faced by law enforcement in balancing the right to protest with maintaining public order and minimizing inconvenience for commuters.
The nature of the situation keeps evolving and developments of the protests are being monitored.
