Tom Daley’s Husband Dustin Lance Black Accused of Assaulting BBC Presenter

Dustin Lance Black, Tom Daley’s husband, has been accused of assaulting BBC presenter Teddy Edwardes during a nightclub altercation.

Mr. Black allegedly threw a drink over Ms. Edwardes, a model and host of the BBC3 show, The Big Proud Party Agency.

He appeared in Westminster Magistrates Court via video link and pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault.

A trial date was set for August 8, and Mr. Black was granted unconditional bail.

Nightclub Altercation

Mr. Black was reportedly involved in a dispute with Teddy Edwardes at Freedom nightclub in London’s West End in August last year.

Olympic diving gold medallist Tom Daley was with him at the time.

Defense Statement

A spokesperson for Mr. Black stated that he was surprised and saddened to learn of the court case, and that Mr. Black had suffered a life-altering concussion as a result of being punched in the back of the head.

They went on to say that Mr. Black would respect the process and continue to focus on being a loving father and husband.

Mr. Black, a screenwriter, grew up in a Mormon household and won an Academy Award for his 2008 film, Milk.

He met Tom Daley in 2013, who hosted the celebrity diving show Splash!, and the couple married four years later at Bovey Castle in the Dartmoor National Park.

They have two children together, their first child was born via surrogate in 2018, and they announced the birth of their second son earlier this year.
