The police department is being sued by a former Australian officer who claims they were responsible for his “meltdown” after the public disclosure of his “throuple” with his wife and their pole-dancing lover.
David Kowal, 38, is suing NSW Police, claiming that senior officers bullied, discriminated against, and emotionally tormented him because of his polygamous relationship.
He wed chiropractor Loren Kowal in February 2017, and in 2019, pole-dancing boxer Alana Dean joined the pair to form a “throuple.”
The Kowals are still legally wed, but Dean is reportedly their shared girlfriend.
But according to Mr. Kowal, everything at work changed when his superiors learned that he was dating two women.
He claims that he was abruptly removed from the cases he had been working on, which he said were sex-related offences on public transportation.
According to The Oz, he also claimed that his top bosses in the NSW police force had harassed him “a good lot.”
Mr. Kowal acknowledged that he afterwards had “a breakdown” at work and was unable to continue.
He ultimately received a medical release.
According to Ms. Kowal, her husband was so traumatized by the problems with his employment that he is presently unable to conceive children and is unwilling to engage in sexual activity.
She claimed that the “abuse” he experienced at work hindered his ability to engage in “normal daily” activities, such as having sex.
The sexual aspect of our relationship was severely strained by the unfortunate timing of all David’s mental health issues, she said.
Mr. Kowal said that without the two ladies in his life, “I wouldn’t be here today.”
It has been difficult for him to move about and act normally, he said.
The District Court will begin hearing Mr. Kowal’s case on February 4.
His legal counsel will come from Firth’s The Compensation Lawyers. Police in NSW chose not to comment.
