In a devastating house fire in Western Australia, three children perished.

Firefighters sped to Anderson Street in Port Hedland, 1,500 kilometers north of Perth, when witnesses called in the fire on Tuesday at 4:45 p.m.

The three kids’ deaths were discovered after fighting the fire for 30 minutes to put it out. When they arrived, a one-story house was completely consumed by the blaze.

By early evening, police tape had been placed hundreds of meters away from the spot and the street was thronging with officers and paramedics.

Police are looking into the fire’s cause, and regional energy company Horizon was also called to the site.

Specialist investigators from the Major Crime Division and Forensics will fly to Port Hedland to continue the probe, according to police. “Local police, including detectives, stay at the scene overnight,” they added.
