‘The River’ performers Hlomla Dandala and Lawrence Maleka left

On Friday, actor Hlomla Dandala’s mysterious post announcing his departure from the Safta-winning serial “The River” sparked widespread concern.

The actor remarked on his Instagram Stories, “The conclusion of an actor’s tenure on a long-running show is always bittersweet. I wish my colleagues a prosperous journey. You’ll be sorely missed.”

Dandala is most known for his role as Zweli Dikana and has been a member of the show’s core cast since its premiere.

After receiving a blow to the head, his character was shown in a time-lapse sequence at the beginning of season 5. This led viewers to suspect he would be leaving the serial.

‘The River’ has stated that Dandala, along with fan favorites Lawrence Maleka and Tango Ncetezo, will be departing for new endeavors, and that some storylines have concluded.

“Since the inception of ‘The River,’ audiences have delighted in observing the development of the actors’ individual personas.

Part of the media statement read: “As three of the country’s best performers, they have offered audiences much to discuss and enjoy, from stories that brought out their characters’ darker sides to softer, lighter moments.”

Shirley Adonisi, director of Local Entertainment Channels on M-Net, stated, “We’d like to thank Hlomla, Lawrence, and Tango for their invaluable contributions to the show, as well as the extraordinary effort that went into bringing their characters to life.

“They have all added professionalism, dedication, personality, and charisma to the event, and we have enjoyed working with them. We anticipate seeing what their journey brings.”

The final moments of each actor will air at various times in the near future.
