The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare branch in the Central Region reported that in 2021 and in the first half of 2022 over 84 million Nakfa has been disbursed in support of families of martyrs

Over 84 million Nakfa were distributed in support of martyr families in 2021 and the first part of 2022, according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare branch in the Central Region.

The assistance was a component of the more than 5 billion 200 Nakfa that the Eritrean government has given to martyr families since 2004, according to Mr. Tedros Fesehaye, director of social welfare at the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare.

According to Mr. Tedros, over 634 thousand Nakfa were donated by Eritreans both at home and abroad in 2021, and 95 Central Region residents in need received the money.

Six households of martyrs have received rehabilitation with mini-kiosks costing 288 thousand Nakfa, according to Mr. Tedros, who was speaking about the rehabilitation of martyrs’ families.

These families are located in the sub-zones of Serejeka, Gala-Nefhi, Akria, Arbaete Asmara, and Abashawul.

Mr. Tedros continued by stating that seven underprivileged families of martyrs in Godaif, Arbaete Asmara, and Gala-Nefhi had received livestock worth 10,000 Nakfa each for rehabilitation, and that families of martyrs in the administrative areas of the Godaif sub-zone had received material support worth over 56,000 Nakfa.
