The Insolvency Service’s policy and technical conference returns for a second year and we’re inviting interested parties to submit abstracts of papers

The Insolvency Service is organizing the next conference on Friday, November 18, 2022, following the success of the Forward Thinking conference from the previous year.

“Forward Thinking: Insolvency Response in Uncertain Times” is the conference’s theme.

By offering a forum for insolvency academic research and technical discussions, we hope to strengthen the relationship between academia, the insolvency industry, and policymakers. We also welcome comments from interested parties.

Request for papers

Now that the conference is approaching, we are calling on academics, researchers, postgraduate students, insolvency practitioners, and anyone else with an interest in insolvency law and related fields to submit their abstracts for an academic or technical paper to be presented at the conference.

A technical problem involving insolvency practice or a research paper for a university

Papers should be focused on the conference’s main theme this year, an insolvency response in uncertain times and economic shocks, and the Insolvency Service welcomes submissions in all areas of personal or corporate insolvency, whether UK or international in focus.

On Wednesday, August 31, abstract submission is due. At this time, we ask that you submit a paper abstract that is no longer than 500 words.

The final draft of chosen papers must be submitted by Friday, October 14, so they can be personally presented at the conference site.

A panel of academics with expertise in insolvency law and Insolvency Service representatives will review research submissions.

A committee of representatives from the Insolvency Service will review technical submissions.

Conference style

The conference is anticipated to have roughly 8 papers.

There will be an additional 20 minutes for questions from attendees and online delegates after the speaker has finished presenting their topic.

The Insolvency Service will host the online publication of papers chosen for presentation at the conference.
