Since the goal of e-governance is to improve efficiency, effectiveness, accountability, transparency, and speed in service delivery, Anthony Okungbowa, Esq., the Head of Service for the Edo State, has reassured members of the State’s workforce that the novel e-governance initiative currently in place in the civil service won’t cause civil servants to lose their jobs but will instead strengthen their capacity..

In a recent interview with media in his office in Benin City, Okungbowa also stated that the elimination of secrecy in e-governance will significantly reduce corruption in the service.

He commended staff employees for taking the initiative to become familiar with the platform’s features and stated that they will benefit from it.

“This is the first time in the history of any State in the Federation where all MDAs in a given State have been on-boarded,” the Head of Service claimed. Therefore, we are entirely using the e-governance platform. We have fully onboarded all 94 MDAs.

In addition, Okungbowa argued that the e-governance program is the best course of action in the digital era for completing tasks more effectively.

The second phase, dubbed “E-governance 2.0,” is about to begin in Edo State, he added, so bringing the agencies on board is simply the first step in the process.

He claims that the project serves as a tool, not an end in and of itself. He added that 123 e-governance champions who would lead the project’s second phase have been recruited and educated by the government.

He added that staff members are continually monitored and oriented in order to help them own the procedure.

Okungbowa continued, “There is regular monitoring across the MDAs to guarantee compliance and assess how staff members are using the e-governance platform.

E-governance is the use of information technology to share information within and between governments and their MDAs as they provide people and other individuals within a government with government services.
