Tyler Sanders, the 18-year-old star of “9-1-1: Lone Star” and “The Rookie,” was found dead in his Los Angeles home in June. After months of conjecture, an autopsy has determined the cause of death.
TMZ said that according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, the 18-year-old “Fear The Walking Dead” actor died of fentanyl overdose in what officials deemed an accident.
The night before his death, Sanders sent a text message to his friend informing them that he was using a controlled substance. However, following his initial text, the kid star did not react to subsequent texts.
According to the article, authorities also located a straw and white powder in the room where he died.
TMZ said that Sanders had a history of taking different narcotics, including heroin, cocaine, LSD, mushrooms, and Xanax, while having no recognized medical conditions.
The report comes after the lone Californian was discovered dead in his Los Angeles residence on June 16. The Daily Mail said that when police came to a call about a man who was not breathing, they discovered the teen alone and pronounced him dead shortly thereafter.
According to Radar Online, Sanders’ cause of death was labeled as “delayed” at the time of his passing, which indicates that the medical examiner is “requesting extra research into the death, including additional tests.”
Once the results of the tests/studies are received, the doctor reevaluates the case and determines the cause of death.”
Sanders, who joined the entertainment industry at age 10, is perhaps best recognized for his role opposite Rob Lowe in “9-1-1: Lone Star.” He also starred in “The Rookie,” “Fear the Walking Dead,” and “Just Add Magic: Mystery City” on Amazon Prime.
According to his IMDb.com profile, the rising star is also a student of stand-up comedy and improvisation, and was nominated for a 2021 Daytime Emmy for his part as Leo in the “Just Add Magic” spin-off. Two independent projects are currently in post-production.
Sanders was also active on social media, having an Instagram account that boasted over 12,000 followers where he routinely published images of himself with his co-stars, friends, and various outdoor experiences.

In his final post before his death, the young talent posted a photo of himself in Vail, Colorado, wearing a sharp blue suit and glasses. The caption on the post was “Styling.”
The devastating news comes less than two weeks after investigators reported that deceased TikTok star Cooper Noriega, who was also discovered dead in Los Angeles in June, had died from the “combined effects of alprazolam, fentanyl, and lorazepam.”
