The 22 measures the government is taking to support the aviation industry and minimise passenger disruption

Most UK planes continue to take off and land without incident. However, some passengers have experienced substantial disruption, which has happened in the airline industry globally and in Europe. Too many consumers have had terrible results.

I have made it quite plain to the sector that they must run their services effectively and on time, or I will offer prompt, suitable reimbursement.

In order to allow airlines to prepare ahead and prevent last-minute cancellations, I have already declared a one-time amnesty on airport slot requirements.

I anticipate that airlines will take advantage of this one-time amnesty to ensure that they are providing consumers with confidence by providing schedules they can keep.

I anticipate airlines to be providing services they are confident in delivering by the conclusion of the slot handback period, and I will keep asking them to confirm this.

Since the beginning of the year, we have actively engaged with industry on a ministerial and official level.

The Aviation Minister organized a weekly Strategic Risk Group as part of this engagement.

In order to resolve the problems before the summer, this gathering of CEOs from airports, airlines, and ground handlers takes place.

I’m listing all 22 actions the government is now implementing to support the aviation sector today, June 30, 2022, including:

to assist in hiring and training employees, ensuring the fulfillment of a realistic summer schedule, minimizing disturbance, and providing passengers with support when delays and cancellations are necessary.

The government is aware that it is up to business to deal with these problems, but these specialized measures will aid them.
