Tesco has announced it will close counters and hot delis as part of a restructuring that will affect about 2,100 jobs.

As part of a massive makeover, the largest grocery chain in the United Kingdom has also stated that it will reduce the number of lead and team managers.

The remaining counters and hot delis at Tesco stores will close for good on February 26, after counters were removed from the bulk of outlets.

A series of localized changes, including the closure of eight pharmacies and the reduction of hours at several in-store post offices, is anticipated to effect approximately 350 workers.

Tesco has announced it will close counters and hot delis as part of a restructuring that will affect about 2,100 jobs.

The retailer claims that all affected employees would be offered new positions, but does not specify how many employees work behind counters and in delis.

Meanwhile, Tesco reports that the reorganization of management positions would create approximately 1,800 additional shift leader positions in stores to oversee operational activities on the sales floor.
