During an attempted robbery on Riet Road in River yesterday afternoon, a 16-year-old girl was stabbed many times (Thursday).
At 18:52, members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene.
When officers arrived, they discovered the girl was walking home after seeing a neighbor.
A lone suspect approached her and attempted to rob her of her smartphone.
The victim stood up to the suspect and fought him off.
Her assailant pulled out a knife and stabbed her multiple times. Her shouts drew the attention of locals, who rushed to her rescue.
The guy dashed into a thicket, empty-handed. The female was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Officers responded and searched for the offender, but no arrests were made.
