Teachers are arrested in Kenya for forcing students to simulate sex

The Kenyan police announced on Thursday that they had detained six instructors in connection with a viral video of primary school students mimicking sex as a form of punishment. The event sparked outrage.

The tape depicted four guys in school uniform mimicking sexual actions beneath a tree in the school’s grounds as teachers looked on.

In the 29-second film, the six can be heard conversing in the background and erupting into laughing as one shirtless child wipes away tears from his cheeks.

The video was filmed in Nyamache, a rural hamlet some 300 kilometers (186 miles) from the capital Nairobi, according to the police.

Six teachers — five women and one guy — have been detained and “are assisting with the investigation,” according to an AFP report.

In addition, “other preferable charges” and a report would follow.

The event prompted outrage on social media, with numerous calls for action in the predominantly Christian, conservative nation.

“This is really embarrassing. The adults must leave the children alone! “What the heck is this?” Twitter user who posted a message.

Minister of Education Ezekiel Machogu stated that the teachers would face disciplinary action and be fired if proven guilty.

According to Kenya’s Sexual Offenses Act, anyone found guilty of inducing another person to do an indecent act receives a minimum five-year prison sentence.
