Tabitha Karanja exclaims about Keroche Breweries predicament

Karanja claimed on Twitter that the company will also seek a moratorium on the debt while they work out the matter.

She also complimented Deputy President William Ruto and Azimio-One Kenya presidential candidate Azimio for putting aside their differences to “help the local Kenyan economy, which is under threat.”

“We appreciate that this important business situation confronting Keroche Breweries has been isolated from politics and its sideshows,” she said.

She noted that “there have been tax problems dating back to 2002, and the corporation should not be blacklisted in exercising its constitutional right to fair taxation.”

Odinga had chastised the KRA for closing down Keroche Breweries due to tax arrears, claiming that the company should have been given more time to settle the debt.

Raila claimed during a meeting with businesses in Murang’a that this will increase the cost of doing business in Kenya and have a detrimental impact on investments.

He stated that its closure impacted numerous Kenyan jobs.

“Broaden the net and let folks pay.” However, do not close the business because someone has failed to pay taxes. If you do that, you are murdering not only the investors, but also the employees,” he warned.
