Chief Timipre Slyva, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has complimented the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) in Effurun, Delta State, for its excellent achievements and successes.

The congratulatory greeting from Sylva was included in his address to the Institute’s fifty (50) years anniversary celebration.

In his remarks at the event held in Abuja on Thursday, October 13, 2022, the Minister, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, stated that PTI has distinguished itself as a dependable and indispensable training institution that has made enormous contributions to the Oil and Gas Industry, not only in Nigeria, but throughout the entire West African Sub-region.

Slyva remarked that Institute students have been successful in their education, in their work, in their entrepreneurial endeavors, and in creating opportunities for others to be gainfully employed.

He thanked the Institution’s original architects from the bottom of his heart for their wisdom and foresight.

In his remarks, the event’s chairman, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha, noted that the occasion was a watershed in the Institution’s history, as it allowed her to take stock of her many accomplishments over the past fifty years.

Mustapha went on to say that the event would serve as a platform for the institution to discover innovative and practical ways to enhance its curriculum to satisfy future national, sub-regional, and global energy requirements.

Dr. Henry A. Adimula, the Principal and Chief Executive Officer of PTI, informed the audience in his opening remarks that PTI was founded in 1972 by the administration of General Yakubu Gowon to provide competent Technological Manpower through quality training, research, and consultancy for the Petroleum and Allied Industries.

He stated that since its founding, the Petroleum Training Institute had trained 50,000 graduates. The institute, he noted, was concentrating on research into alternative and renewable energy sources as well as Off-Grid Solar Devices in preparation of the global energy shift in Africa.

The celebration of the Golden Jubilee was attended by Ministry Directors and other significant Key Players in the Oil and Gas Sector.
