Sydney collision causes division among Australians

A collision between a motorcyclist and a car in Sydney has divided Australians over who was at fault.

Video footage of the incident shows the motorcyclist colliding with the passenger door of a black sedan in heavy traffic near Redfern train station.

The clip shows the motorcyclist initially stopped by a bus in front of him and gesturing out of frustration at the traffic.

When the bus moves, the motorcyclist zips between it and a stationary bus, moving into the kerbside lane. However, he is hit by the sedan, which is also heading for the same lane. The impact throws the rider over the car and onto the ground.

Opinions about who was to blame for the accident were divided on social media, with some blaming the motorcyclist for not riding appropriately for the heavy traffic conditions.

Others blamed the car driver for failing to give way when changing lanes and crashing into the motorcycle.

One viewer stated that the driver failed to allow for what might be in the inside lane, while another viewer argued that the accident was down to bad timing all round.

The video clip, which was uploaded to Facebook, does not provide a clear indication of whether the driver had enough time to see the motorcyclist before the collision.
