A woman who sent offensive texts to a person she believed to be a minor, but who was actually an undercover police officer, was sentenced to more than five years in prison.

Tiane Miller, 49, of Greystanes in western Sydney was detained after sending a series of sexual conversations to child exploitation unit detectives acting as the girl in 2020 and 2021 using an online alias known to police as ’41’.

On August 14, 2021, her home was raided and computer gadgets were taken, but she was released on bond.

The following month, Miller messaged a 39-year-old lady – who was once again an undercover police officer – to arrange having sexual contact with her 9-year-old daughter.

The Downing Centre District Court in Sydney heard on Thursday that Miller informed the first minor she had “breasts and a c**k” and sent a photo of her chest and penis.

The Daily Telegraph said that she offered to pick up the girl from the train station through text message and told her, “We could do loads of fun things nude and you could still be a virgin… you could try sucking it.”

Miller texted ‘kiss and touch you down there, get you horny and wet and touch your nipples’ to ’41 when she asked what they could do and instructed her to keep it a secret.

Twenty days of texts were exchanged, during which Miller asked the minor to skip school so they might meet.

After her initial arrest and release on bond, she then texted the 39-year-old lady over app Chatiw saying she was ‘bored and horny’ and invited her to her residence.

She was aware that the police cover identity had a daughter and urged that the three of them have sexual relations.

‘Maybe you and I go naughty in front of her (the child) and then head to the bedroom… Tell her to strip if she wants to be in the room,’ the court heard.

When she went to meet the woman at the Liverpool train station, the police spotted her with child-sized undergarments and detained her.

The court heard that she messaged yet another police-created identity of a little girl and begged to visit her home while her mother was at work.

Miller has been detained since her arrest at the Liverpool train station in October 2021.

She pled guilty to the charges of using a carriage service to recruit a minor for sexual activity, using a carriage service to send indecent material to a minor, using a carriage service to recruit a minor for the sender, and using a carriage service to recruit a minor for sexual activity.

The court heard that she was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the offense and had been receiving a mental health disability pension since 2001.

She informed the court that she was remorseful, desired to be a contributing member of society, and had been overexposed to taboo topics online.

Judge Mark Marian described the offender’s purpose as “depraved” and questioned her remorse, given that she continued to commit crimes while on bail.

Miller was sentenced to five years and six months in prison and will be parole-eligible on July 16, 2024.
