SWOGE To Help Vulnerable Persons

The Society for Women and Girl Child Empowerment (SWOGE) is a non-governmental organization whose mission is to assist vulnerable people in reducing sexual violence through Community Based Organizations.

Mrs Laureta Charles, SWOGE’s executive director, revealed this at a two-day orientation training for the project Implementing Community Based Organizations conducted at Fombina House Jimeta.

The project will benefit the Malkohi and Damare Internally Displaced Persons camps in Yola South and Girei local government districts, as well as their host communities, she said.

Mrs Charles highlighted that the “It’s Our Concern Project” is funded by the European Union EU ACT and implemented by SWOGE (Society for Women and Girl Child Empowerment).

Mr Andrew Charles, the organization’s project officer, claimed in his remarks that the project will help to reduce the incidence and burden of Sexual Based Violence in selected IDP camps and host communities.

Representatives from the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Community Based Organizations expressed their gratitude for EU-efforts ACT’s in partnership with SWOGE for the involvement in their good will messages and committed to support the initiative.

According to correspondent sources, the role and duties of Community Based Organizations in attaining the project’s aims are at the top of the training agenda.
