SUPC reviews plans to enhance quality of public sites

SHARJAH, 16th June, 2022 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of Sharjah Urban Planning Council (SUPC), chaired the Urban Planning Council meeting, Thursday, at the Ruler’s Office.

The meeting discussed several topics related to development projects implemented by the emirate in the city and its regions.

As a result, the Council made a number of decisions that would lead to coordinating efforts between various government agencies during the implementation of infrastructure projects and the establishment of multiple facilities.

It also reviewed plans to improve the quality of public sites further and link them to each other to ensure optimal use, the maximum benefit for its visitors and users, and the provision of all services.

Moreover, the Council was briefed on the progress of preparing guidelines for urban planning, which leads to implementing all projects in an integrated manner and with international standards that are commensurate with the civilised image of Sharjah.

The Council discussed numerous design options for several of its service facilities, where the used materials will be at international specifications and standards, achieving sustainability and high quality, which enhances the urban image of Sharjah.

Finally, the meeting discussed several development proposals for some areas in Sharjah to raise the efficiency of its infrastructure, add many urban green spaces, and come up with various solutions to its most prominent challenges.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Saud Al Qasimi, Vice President and Director of the Urban Planning Council; Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Head of Sharjah Department Public Works; Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority; Saeed Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority; and Khaled Al Ali, Secretary-General of the SUPC.
