Subaru has recalled over 80,000 vehicles due to a potentially catastrophic problem with its automatic parking brakes.

As a consequence of the flaw, 78,617 automobiles manufactured between 2015 and 2019 have been recalled.

The recall notice, which was filed with the Department of Infrastructure, advised Subaru owners to take their vehicle to the closest dealership.

‘Due to a manufacturing defect, the electronic park brake (EPB) adapter cable connection may not function properly.’ This might result in the vehicle moving or rolling away while in the park position,’ according to the recall notice.

‘If the vehicle is moved from its parked position while unattended, the danger of an accident involving harm or death to vehicle passengers and/or other road users increases.’

The recall affects many popular vehicles, including Liberty sedans, Outback wagons, Levorg wagons, and WRX cars manufactured between 2015 and 2018.

Subaru Impreza and XV cars manufactured between 2017 and 2019 are also being recalled. Subaru Australia estimated that the repair would take around 30 minutes.
