Study Finds Half of Brits Value Reliable Broadband More Than Dates and Meals Out

A study by Virgin Media O2 has found that half of Brits value reliable broadband more than going out for a meal or taking their partner on a date.

The study also revealed that 98% of Brits rely on broadband daily and that nearly half of all people think it’s essential to have a connection all day long.

Despite the importance of broadband, common mistakes such as placing the router in suboptimal locations or keeping it near metal furniture, fish tanks or baby monitors can disrupt the WiFi connectivity, and even slow down the internet speed.

Brits are so obsessed with the Internet that many of us would rather give up dating, booze, or even pets than go without reliable WiFi - 40% of people have even shouted at their router

Feng Shui expert Cliff Tan has recommended placing the WiFi router in a central location of the home, which will ensure maximum connectivity without compromising the aesthetics of the home.

He advised placing the router up high and facing forwards so that the signal can reach the entire room.

To optimize the signal, people are also advised to clear the area around the router of clutter, remove metal furniture, and keep wall mirrors away from it.

The results of the study indicate that reliable broadband is an essential part of everyday life in the UK, and as such, people are willing to prioritize it over other activities.

It also highlights the growing reliance on the internet in the UK, which has become increasingly important due to the pandemic.

With more people working from home, learning remotely and socializing online, internet access has become critical to daily life, and the importance of reliable connectivity cannot be overstated.
