Sting’s ‘My Songs’ world tour SA dates announced


In his next two-city South Africa (SA) tour, Sting is sure to impress fans with favorites such as “Fields of Gold,” “Shape of my Heart,” “Roxanne,” and “Demolition Man.”

The 70-year-old musician is renowned for his contributions to rock, reggae, jazz, new age, and classical music, among others.

From 1977 to 1984, he was the lead singer, songwriter, and bassist for the rock band The Police.

In his earlier years as a musician, Sting moved frequently. Before commencing his solo career in 1985, he joined Band Aid for a year in 1984, Strontium 90 in 1977 for a year, and Last Exit from 1974 to 1977.

The 17-time Grammy Award winner will play songs from his time with The Police as well as his solo career.

Additionally, “Englishman in New York,” “Every Breath You Take,” and “Message in a Bottle” will be performed.

Sting will be accompanied on tour by an electric rock ensemble and Joe Sumner as a special guest.

Concert promoters Cherrytree Music Company and Big Concerts have scheduled his first tour for February 1, 2023, at the Grand Arena, GrandWest, in Cape Town, and February 4, 2023, at the SunBet Arena, Time Square, in Pretoria.

Ticketmaster will begin selling tickets on Friday, September 2 at 9:00 a.m. Cape Town concert tickets start at R800, while Pretoria tickets start at R745.
