St. John Paul the Great Catholic High School President Emphasizes Importance of Mission-Aligned Accreditation

Jeff Kummer, the president of St. John Paul the Great Catholic High School in the Archdiocese of Denver, underscored the significance of selecting a mission-aligned accrediting partner for the school.

He highlighted the paramount role that Catholic identity plays in all aspects of school life, ranging from curriculum development to hiring practices.

Confidence in Lumen Accreditation’s Support for Catholic Principles

Kummer expressed confidence in Lumen Accreditation, stating that the accrediting body would not merely tolerate Catholic principles but actively support and allow them to guide the entire accreditation process.

He emphasized that the result would be a Catholic high school well-prepared to meet expectations across curricular, pedagogical, and organizational areas, with a primary focus on achieving spiritual and evangelistic goals.

Gratitude for Inclusion in Inaugural Lumen Cohort

Expressing gratitude, Kummer conveyed a sense of blessing for being part of the inaugural Lumen cohort.

He emphasized that the selection was the result of extensive prayer and discernment by both organizations involved.

Funding and Reach of ITCE-Funded Initiative

Michael Hagan, discussing the Initiative for Catholic Education (ITCE), mentioned that the ITCE is funded through benefactors.

The initiative has served hundreds of Catholic educators through various avenues, including conference presentations, webinars, retreats, and tailored professional development programs for Catholic dioceses and schools.

Vision of Education Rooted in Christ

Hagan emphasized the vision of education and formation fostered by the ITCE, which is rooted in Christ, draws from the Church’s tradition, and aims at the full flourishing of the human person in wisdom, virtue, and holiness.
