SPD, Bellevue PD Arrest Burglars Wanted In String of ATM Smash-and-Grab Burglaries

SPD General Investigations Unit detectives, working with Bellevue PD detectives, have arrested two suspects wanted in a series of recent ATM smash-and-grab burglaries.

Over the last year, police believe the suspects have smashed their way into upwards of 60 businesses in the Seattle area, often with trucks or other heavy equipment, and broken into ATMs and cash registers. The suspects have stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and caused tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage to businesses in the process.

Members of SPD’s SWAT, Major Crimes Taskforce and Gun Violence Reduction Unit served warrants at a Tukwila motel on Friday morning, arrested the two suspects, and impounded two vehicles.

Police booked the men—ages 30 and 33—into the King County Jail for burglary, theft, malicious mischief and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Detectives continue to investigate.
