South African Post Office (Sapo) suspends the airmail service between South Africa and Hong Kong due to lack of capacity on aircraft

Due to a shortage of space on planes, the South African Post Office (Sapo) has halted the airmail service between South Africa and Hong Kong.

The Post Office stated in a statement on Monday that the service will be resumed as soon as space became available.

“Mail service to and from China is still available. Please make sure that any things you transfer overseas will be accepted by the recipient nation.

The website of the postal service in the country of destination is the finest source of information.

For instance, no things made of wood or straw are permitted in New Zealand or Australia. For instance, a conventional pencil would be seized as a result, according to Sapo.

In order for the post office in the country of destination to text the recipient to pick up the item, the parcel must be robust, contain the correct address, and bear the recipient’s mobile phone number.

For rapid parcel clearance, customers can readily use the electronic customs declaration form on the Post Office website.

The form can be found on the www.postoffice.co.za website under “tools.”

“South Africans are allowed two tax-free gifts from overseas per year, provided that the combined amount of both gifts does not exceed R1 400.

The SARS website, https://www.sars.gov.za/customs-and-excise/sending-or-receiving-goods-in-the-post/, has more information, according to Sapo.
