South African man discloses how he paid an R2,400 debt with R200

Letlhogonolo Regomoditswe, a South African man, stated that he went to the most costly restaurant despite leaving home with only R200. After calling the police, he was able to settle his R2400 bill.

Letlhogonolo Regomoditswe shared his R200 story on his Facebook account with his followers, detailing how he avoided paying his R2400 restaurant bill.

I was hungry and had only R200 in my pocket, so I went to the most expensive restaurant and ordered a feast fit for a king. After indulging and feeling satisfied, I inquired for the bill, which came to R2,450 (money I didn’t have), so I informed the waiter I didn’t have that type of money, at which point he phoned the management, who called the police, and I was detained. Welcome to the new South Africa!

Friends and fans of Regomoditswe flocked to his comment area to congratulate him on’settling the bill’ and escaping jail time.

A follower of @Jah Judar replied, “Oh man, that’s an escape route.”

Additionally, a customer racked up an R1.3 million tab at a Pretoria watering hole.

Previously, South Africans dragged a tweep@ziphorator because his bill revealed he paid R555 for his favorite meal but only tipped the waitress R15.

Additionally, Twitter users were concerned by the man’s attempt to explain himself by stating that tipping is not required in South Africa and that it is his money.

Briefly, News reached out to the man in the hot seat to determine why he believed R15 to be an appropriate tip.

When questioned if he had ever worked as a waiter, he admitted that he had, and that even when he was making only R50 per hour, he didn’t care what people tipped because it was their money and he had no influence over it.

“In 2011, I earned R50 per day at the eatery Mac Banana. It didn’t matter if I received tips or not. It was, after all, their money.”
