According to Telecoming, a business that has been specializing in monetization technology for sport and entertainment since 2008, this amount will grow at a YoY rate of 16 percent over the following four years to reach $159M in 2026.

One of the most relevant countries by billing, South Africa’s DCB spending accounts for roughly 15% of the worldwide market in Africa and the Middle East.

Currently, South Africans spend $4.2 on average per month on digital material. This average cost per user will rise to $5.5 by 2026.

When it comes to using the operator to pay for their products, the digital market is typically the one that motivates people the most.

Video games, videos, and music are the three types of entertainment that are most frequently purchased with DCB.

More specifically, the cost associated with these categories in 2022 will be $86M.

Videos and games account for 75% of DCB spending.

With a global share of 91 percent in DCB, digital content is heavily weighted.

This figure jumps to 97 percent in South Africa. “These figures indicate that payments using mobile phones break down barriers, enable transactions because they are carried out swiftly and safely for the user,” says Javier de Corral, Telecoming’s country manager in South Africa.

Other expanding markets that DCB is slowly but surely capturing include ticketing, online gaming, and physical products, with YoY growth rates of 31%, 57%, and 40%, respectively, for the next four years.

A significant potential is already being seen in this industry.

In Africa and the Middle East, ticket sales for this year’s finale will total $7 million.

Compared to other nations in the region, South Africa

The DCB market will expand by 7% this year and continue to increase in the upcoming years.

According to Javier de Corral, “Compared to the other nations considered in the analysis, South Africa has a more developed market for the usage of DCB.

In the region under study, about one in five DCB payments will be made from South Africa “.

Africa has been invaded by smartphones.

Feature phones used to be the standard for mobile payment methods, but in 2021, smartphones in Africa and the Middle East contributed $450M in DBC.

“The ability to pay for all goods and services with a mobile phone is being democratized.

By using DCB, the transaction is streamlined and secure all the way through.

According to the data, South Africa is one of the African nations that is absorbing DBC the best “Javier de Corral states.
