The Guardian Nigeria reported that while many musicians aspire to perform at prestigious venues like the o2 arena, Ghanaian music sensation Shatta Wale has openly admitted that his primary goal is to have a substantial amount of money in his bank account. He asserts that he has accomplished his objectives within the music industry and no longer cares about public perception.

During a Twitter Space session with media personality Serwaa Amihere on August 23, 2023, Shatta Wale expressed that he no longer sees the need to promote Ghana to the global stage, especially when he receives disrespectful treatment from fellow Ghanaians who label him as a drug addict. In light of Nigerian singer Asake’s successful debut at the 02 Arena earlier in the week, Shatta Wale playfully mocked the state of Ghanaian music.

He pointed out that the achievements of Ghanaian musicians seemed overshadowed by those of their Nigerian counterparts. He drew a comparison between the Nigerian music industry, which he likened to a “Hennessy bottle,” and the Ghanaian music industry, which he compared to a “feeding bottle” in terms of growth and success. Shatta Wale also expressed his reservations about promoting Ghana on the international stage, highlighting the lack of support from his fellow Ghanaians
