Sharon Horgan and Michael Sheen, well-known actors, have joined forces to star in a compelling new documentary called “Best Interests,” created by Jack Thorne, the writer of “His Dark Materials.”
The series premiered on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Monday, June 12.
It follows the story of a family who are torn apart as they face difficult decisions that no parent would ever want to make.

They are confronted with an unimaginable choice when their daughter Marnie’s health declines to the point where her long-time consultant and the medical team believe that withdrawing care would be in her best interests.

Filming Locations and Synopsis “Best Interests” was primarily filmed in Cleeve Hill, while the impactful court case scenes were shot in London.
The production team constructed a specialized set for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for the show.
The series revolves around Nicci and Andrew, who are devoted parents to Marnie (13) and Katie (17).
Marnie has a rare form of Congenital Muscular Dystrophy, a condition that limits her life expectancy.
The family has faced numerous challenges but has remained resilient, supporting each other and finding moments of joy in the midst of darkness.
However, when Marnie’s health worsens and the medical team argues that withdrawing care is in her best interests due to her pain and the invasiveness of treatments, her parents fiercely disagree.
This disagreement leads to a legal battle in the high court, where a judge will ultimately determine what is in Marnie’s best interests.
